The personal and professional portfolio of Amy L. Frazer. Amy is a full time designer and artist inspired by the natural and man made world around her.
I AM AN ILLUSTRATOR, DESIGNER, EMBROIDERER, SURFACE PATTERN AND PRODUCT DESIGNER. I MAKE THINGS.
TRAINED AS A FINE ARTIST/ ILLUSTRATOR AT THE COLUMBUS COLLEGE OF ART AND DESIGN, I SPENT OVER 15 YEARS WORKING AS A PRODUCT DESIGNER AT SMALL AND LARGE COMPANIES SUCH AS GALERIE AU CHOCOLAT, OLD NAVY AND RECENTLY SPENT 10 YEARS AT NIKE. I LEFT NIKE IN THE FALL OF 2015 TO BRING MY DREAM OF ILLUSTRATING AND DESIGNING MY OWN ARTWORK TO LIFE. I TAKE LOTS OF WORKSHOPS AND CLASSES TO CONTINUE TO HONE MY CURRENT SKILLS, STAY FRESH AND LEARN NEW TECHNIQUES.
MY GOAL IS TO CREATE ARTWORK AND PATTERNS THAT MY CLIENTS CAN USE TO BRING THEIR PRODUCT STORIES TO LIFE. I BRING WITH ME YEARS OF PRODUCT CREATION EXPERIENCE AND PROFESSIONALISM. THROUGH MY WORK I TRY TO CAPTURE THE BEAUTY OF THE WORLD AROUND US AND EMBELLISH IT WITH MY PERSONAL MARK MAKING. THINGS MADE BY NATURE AND THINGS MADE BY MAN ARE HUGE INSPIRATIONS TO ME. I LOVE TO EXPLORE MANY DIFFERENT MEDIUMS SUCH AS PAINT, TEXTILES, EMBROIDERY, KNITTING, DIGITAL MEDIA, PHOTOGRAPHY, YOU NAME IT!
IT ALL STARTED WHEN MY GRANNY AND I USED TO CRAFT TOGETHER ALL THE TIME IN OUR BASEMENT "STUDIO". REALLY IT WAS AN OLD BUMPER POOL TABLE WE WOULD SIT AROUND FOR HOURS SEWING ON HER OLD SINGER MIRACLE SEWING MACHINE. WE WOULD ALSO MAKE THINGS LIKE PINE CONE WREATHS AFTER COLLECTING THE CONES FROM OUR YARD, ORNAMENTS AND CROCHET SLIPPERS. ANYTHING WE COULD THINK OF, WE USUALLY COULD FIGURE OUT A WAY TO MAKE IT HAPPEN. IT WAS GREAT FUN AND I MISS THOSE DAYS.
IN MY EXPERIENCES, ART AND CRAFT, THE PROCESS OF CREATING, OR JUST LOOKING AT AND APPRECIATING HANDMADE OBJECTS IS A PANACEA. IT MAKES ME FEEL GOOD TO CREATE, TO LOOK, AND TO APPRECIATE WHAT OTHERS HAVE MADE WITH THEIR OWN HANDS. MAYBE THEIR GRANNY TAUGHT THEM HOW TO MAKE THESE THINGS TOO.
